News and Hues

Not only is it a whole new year, but Sophiola is celebrating our first year in business! We’re getting excited for the next one!

Some highlights of the past two months:

December 2018

Sophiola was delighted to be a vendor at The Heurich Museum’s Christkindlmarkt at DuPont Circle in Washington, DC on December 2nd.  This event was the first time that Sophiola sold merchandise in Washington, DC. and we had a great day!  We hope to return to this event for 2019!

Sophiola was also thrilled to be a vendor at the Fredericksburg Area Museum’s inaugural FAM Fair KrisKringlmarkt on December 8th.  Thousands came to Market Square on a beautiful, sunny day to celebrate the holidays and get in the Christmas spirit.  This is another event that we hope to be part of in 2019!

Sophia was happy to be asked to be a part of Light Up the Season, a fundraising event held at the Four Seasons Hotel in Georgetown – Washington DC on December 16th.  This event - put together by the Children’s Health Board/Children’s Hospital Foundation – helps raises money to support Children’s National Medical Center.  Sophia was paired with designers to create a Christmas tree that was available for purchase – and inspired by her artwork.

January 2019

We have spent most of the month getting ready for 2019.  We are in the process of setting the calendar for Sophiola shows throughout the DC metro area and parts of Virginia.  We hope to expand our retail presence – so be prepared for many postings from us – we might be coming to a location near you, come visit us in person!

Upcoming Events:

February 14th!

Sophia was asked to be part of a show in Richmond to showcase differently-abled artists.  We would love for you to join members of Virginia General Assembly and the public at a showing of this art.  The show “Special Art by Special Artists” is sponsored by Delegate Kaye Kory and the reception will be held from 9:00 am to 12:00pm in the main floor of the art gallery of the SunTrust Building, 919 East Main Street, Richmond, Virginia.  The works will be on display for the remainder of February.

Other planned shows and presentations are in the works for the Richmond area so stay tuned!

Don’t forget the Sophiola.com Shop!

Thanks again to all of you for your support, encouragement and love.  Hard to believe that we just celebrated our first year in business – been quite the ride!
